Rubber Stamps

Rubber stamps are amazing tools. Most people take them for granted, but there is a sub-culture of rubber stamp addicts out there (no joke) who take their tools and their art very seriously.
There are many suppliers of rubber stamps but none better than my old friend Leavenworth Jackson. I met Leavenworth years ago while attending one of the early Macworld Expos in San Francisco. She got interested in the Macintosh and has been using one ever since to run her stamp business. Her catalog can be found online but it’s worth ordering the paper variety for clarity. Beware, stamps are addictive.
Though I understand that rubber stamps can be used in artistic manners, when I use rubber stamps with children, it tends to be in a functional manner. Rubber stamps are a wonderful outlet for low functioning students who can not hold a writing utensil. If your provide them with rubber stamps with the letters of their name, they will be able to put the name on papers, projects, etc. It’s a wonderfully independent outlet for them.
Great comment Cynthia, I agree completely. Wish I had a stamp alphabet when I was younger, it would have been my typewriter before I had a typewriter.
It is most definitely clear your friend has an extreme talent in the art of creating truly inspiring art with rubber stamps! Being a provider of more commercial custom stamps it is extremely pleasant to see such fantastic rubber stamp creations. Thank you for sharing.
@Cynthia that is a great mention, surely children react positively with stamps, teachers too!
