We are getting numerous comments from folks who are confused about what commenting is and how it works. So, some tips and pointers are in order.

1. Comment on the post and/or comment thread that relates to that post. Off topic comments will be deleted as soon as we see them from now on.

Before commenting, scroll back up to the top of the page and make sure the comment you are about to write is on the topic you just read or on one of the comments you just read in the comment thread under that topic.

2. School listings are not monitored by or put up by the schools listed. That means that if you find a school you like, posting that you’d like them to send you information is not a good idea. Better to read the address and phone number on the listing and write or call asking for the information. Comments on school listings are for discussion on the school (good, bad, and otherwise).

3. Authors are not automatically notified of new comments Many articles have author email addresses under the name and copyright. If you want to ensure it is seen by the author, it is better to send an email to an author letting them know what you thought of their article. Commenting on articles is fine, but it ought to be for general discussion.

If you find that an author’s email address is no longer valid please do comment and let us know and we’ll update or remove it (thanks ahead of time for doing that for us).

4. Scan through the discussion starters. Those are for more general discussion on work, school, and life.
