I have worked closely with the NJ Unit of the recordings for the Blind and they provide a great service for students with reading and or visual disabilities. Rutger’s Universtiy just published a study that looked at reading achievement for those students who used RFBD audiobooks and found that in fact those students who used the audiobooks showed an improvement in reading achievement. To take a look at the study you can go to: http://www.rfbdnj.org/rutgersstudy2006.pdf
From reading success stories of members, I have come to understand what Anne T. Macdonald meant when she said that “Education is a right not a privilege.” RFB&D is an organization everyone ought to volunteer for. I feel deeply honored to be volunteering for RFB&D. I will do my best to help RFB&D and Ms. Macdonald carry on.
Brian, great. What are you doing for them? Recording books?
