Apple’s New Accessibility Web Site
For more than 20 years, Apple has provided new and innovative solutions for people with disabilities, allowing them to access — and enjoy using — advanced technology products such as the Mac, iPod, iPhone, and Apple TV.
In fact, Apple has built many accessibility solutions directly into its products as standard features. VoiceOver, screen reading technology that’s part of Mac OS X, provides voice description and offers plug-and-play support for Braille displays. For those who find it difficult to use a mouse, Spotlight search technology makes it easy to launch applications and find files, images, calendar events, or Wikipedia entries using a keyboard. And iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, and other products support closed captioning.

What I am looking for is software that can help my husband who is learning disabled to enjoy the computer. He cannot read, and would love to be able to enjoy the computer as I do. Is there a software we can purchase that can help him do this. What he need is if he clicks on something he wants to be able to access the computer, because he cannot read this is difficult for him to do, can you please help.
Tammy: If you use Macintosh computers you can have anything you point to read to you by the computer. It can be done with Windows as well although it’s a bit more difficult to set up.
What is it your husband wants to do with a computer? If he wants to read the web through a browser there are many ways to have this done aloud on a computer. If he wants to write and then have the computer read his writing aloud this is also easily done in many different ways.
What does he want to do?
