Richard…..
Just a Thank You for posting the You Tube interview of Daniel Tammet (the gentleman who wrote Embracing the Wide Sky and who further educates us about people with ASD) on the LD Resources website cover page. It was a great interview and enlightening!

I really enjoyed Embracing the Wide Sky. I was particularly impressed with the way Daniel synthesizes some of the latest research on neurolinguistics and cognitive science. He points out that it is inaccurate to make claims that the brain functions very much like a computer. Also, he disagrees with some of the SciFi claims that there will be a time when we will be able to download our consciousness and give birth to blended beings. Obviously that type of thinking is related to the mind/body duality, but it seems to me that Daniel sees the mind as embodied. At least that is what I understood from reading this book. This is a wonderful book for anyone interested in the brain, science, autism, and language learning.
